We have a wonderful, vibrant community around us in both Teddington and Claygate. As most of our team live in the local area, the wellbeing of the community is important to us. We think it’s important for us to give back to the local people and organisations that support us: Education is particularly important to us.
Earlier in the year our lead vet Alice McCartney visited the 5th Teddington Guides for a Q&A session about their pets and animals in general. The girls all brought in their cuddly companions and asked some very good questions.
In May the Alpha Vets team hosted a stall at the annual Teddington Village Fair. We were raising money and awareness for the charity Pets As Therapy and one of their handlers came down with her dog Henry. We had a great day out and met lots of very friendly Teddington dogs (and people!).
In August the Alpha team took part in the Sunbury Amatuer Regatta. We entered the “dongoling” race. An event where 6 individuals kneel in a standard punt and paddle. As you can see from the picture we were not so successful in the race itself but we had great fun and did win Best Fancy Dress 2017! As the weather was supposed to be bad we chose to go as ducks- thankfully it turned out to be a lovely day!
